Steve Mann
spent two decades with Burroughs/Unisys Corporation in sales and
marketing for the computer giant prior to his becoming co-founder
and President of URS in December 1991. During his tenure at Unisys, Mr. Mann served
in various sales, marketing, product management, sales management, and support management
positions, where he gained valuable experience in bringing new
products to market and in promoting products and services. This enabled Mr. Mann to take
those skill sets and put them to good use in an entrepreneurial way in founding
a new company.
He is a graduate
of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he earned
a degree in Business Administration. He spent two years in the
Marine Corps prior to beginning his professional career. Mr. Mann completed training
at the American Institute for Telecommunications and Energy Bill Auditing in 1991
and has since been invited back as a guest trainer. Mr. Mann has spoken at trade
association meetings regarding telecom and energy related issues, and he has written
several articles for publication in these areas.
As President
of URS, Mr. Mann developed the corporate vision that URS will
be a complete source for cost management for clients in the areas of
telecommunications, energy, and sales tax expenses. He has forged working relationships
with vendors as well as industry professionals in all segments of the company’s
markets and has formed strategic alliances with numerous trade associations establishing
URS as an endorsed vendor for their membership. He is active in all phases
of the business and has been instrumental in the growth of the company’s client base,
service offerings, technological advances, and strategic planning. Under his leadership,
URS has secured refunds and reduced clients’ annual costs by more than
$20 million.
