Prior to co-founding
URS with Steve Mann in 1991, Mr. Burkel spent 20 years
as a sales manager, marketing manager and vice president of sales
for a
business forms company in North Carolina, where he dealt with
clients
throughout the Southeast and was responsible for annual sales
in excess of
$13 million. Mr. Burkel is a graduate of St. Norbert College in
De Pere,
Wisconsin. He attained CFC (Certified Forms Consultant) accreditation
with
a professional emphasis in designing and providing solutions oriented
services, and providing products geared to streamline business
processes
and reduce costs.
The URS business model matches these disciplines, which has
created a natural transition for Mr. Burkel to design marketing
and sales
programs for URS cost management services. With the help of the
entire
URS team, he has guided URS to record sales each year. Under Mr.
Burkel’s
direction, URS annual sales grew by more than 40% each year from
1991-2000 and have produced more than 450 clients for URS in North
Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.
